Love Jones' unique pop style can turn any
space into a smoky little cocktail lounge in a matter of
moments... just add your beverage of choice and bring your
dancing shoes. Straight out of Louisville, KY, took Los
Angeles by storm in 1992, brimming with self-confidence
(and various distilled spirits). Love Jones continues to
win fans across the nation with its high-energy live shows,
a wild hybrid of Rat Pack cool, R&B revue and punk
attitude. Two gloriously eclectic pop/lounge concoctions
followed. Here's to the Losers was the first release of
a wave of lounge-style bands that the press dubbed the "Cocktail
Nation." The
band's second album, Powerful Pain Relief emphasized the
band's R&B influences,
with nods to Earth Wind and Fire, Al Green, and Chic.
In addition to their recording work and live performances,
Love Jones appeared in the Miramax film, Since You've Been
Gone, starring Teri Hatcher and Cineville's French Exit,
starring Jonathan Silverman. Their music can also be heard
in the Miramax cult hit Swingers and BMG Films' The Pompatous
of Love. For more information on Love Jones visit www.lovejones.info.
In 2000 Johnny Berry moved to Louisville, playing bluegrass
music to smallish crowds on weekday nights fueling his passion
for performing. He started a band called Johnny B and the
Honky Tonk Revival with Steve Cooley and Andy Brown. In 2004
he changed the name to Johnny Berry & the Outliers. 2005
brought their first album Shoot! Darn! Yeah! to people’s
ears. The response has been wonderful! Now it’s 2006 and
the group has a second record Fegenbush Farm which will be
remembered fondly by all those involved with making it. It’s
a country record so true and pure; one you thought wasn’t
made anymore. For more information on Johnny Berry and the
Outliers visit www.johnnyberrymusic.com.
Spawned in a highlands basement, this little fish wiggled
its way into a band over the course of a year. Four folks,
two dogs, and two cats gather weekly to delight in the innocent
clanging of musical instruments. Since one member is 45,
one is 35, and one 25, they considered calling themselves
the Decades. Each member brings his/her own musical history
to the experience. Self-described indie-punk band you can

King Kong was founded by Ethan Buckler in the late
eighties after his departure from the band Slint. King
Kong has been through many incarnations. First as a three
piece with Ethan Buckler, Darren Rappa and Rich Schuler,
then it expanded to include Amy Partin Ritchie, Craig Wagner,
Todd Hildreth, Britt Walford, David Pajo, Johnny Machine,
Willie MacLean, Ray Rizzo, and now their newest drummer,
Peter Townsend. The band recently release its album, "Buncha
Beans." To listen to sample music and learn more about King Kong visit www.myspace.com/kingkonglouisville.
